01 — The idea
Small faces have been buying large frames for years
The oversized trend did something no one talks about: it removed the small sizes from the market. If your face is narrow, every frame on the shelf reaches past your temples and sits on your cheeks, and the only options left are the ones meant for someone else.
02 — Design
What 45 mm changes
A 45 mm lens with an 18 mm bridge puts the outer edge of the frame close to the outer corner of the eye rather than out past it. On a narrow face that is the difference between glasses that fit and glasses that are simply present.
The oval shape does the rest. With no corners, there is nothing to line up with a cheekbone that sits higher or lower than average.

03 — Build
A small frame is harder, not easier
Shrinking a frame shrinks every tolerance with it. The rim has less material to hold the lens, the hinge sits closer to the edge, and a bridge at 18 mm leaves less room for error than one at 22. Small frames are the ones where poor construction shows first.

Before you order
How do I know if I need a small frame?
Check the numbers inside the arm of a pair that fits you well. If the first figure is 48 or under, you are in small territory and most of what is on sale is too big for you.
Is a small lens less protective?
It shades less of the skin around the eye than an oversized frame. For the eye itself, protection comes from the UV filter, which is identical across everything we sell.
How does this compare to your other frames?
At 45 mm this is the smallest lens we carry. Our rectangular acetate runs 49 mm and the oversized squares run 55 mm.
