01 — The idea
Suede softens everything on top of it
Studs and buckles on a coated surface read as hardware. On a matt nap they sink into the colour instead of sitting on it — which is how a bag with this much metal ends up looking soft rather than armoured.
02 — Design
Studs on a matt nap
The body is a crescent — wide, low and curved along the base — in a deep magenta faux suede. Studs run round the front panel, buckles sit at both strap anchors, and a shaped clasp plate is set at the centre.
Every piece of metal is antique gold rather than polished, which on a red-toned suede is the warmer of the two possible readings, and the long lace ends hang loose from the buckles instead of being tucked away.
The back panel is left completely plain, which is what keeps the front from tipping into costume.

26 cm to 57 cm, and it comes off
The strap detaches completely and adjusts across the widest range of any bag we stock: 26 cm of drop tucks the crescent under the arm, 57 cm hangs it across the body at the hip. Inside there are two pockets rather than one — a zipped one and a slit one.

Deep magenta is a red you can wear all winter.
It is dark enough to sit against black and grey the way burgundy does, and saturated enough to be the only colour an outfit needs. In suede rather than a shiny finish it stays on the right side of loud.

Why this makes sense
Every stud on this bag is set by hand, through a curved panel, at an even spacing that has to follow the arc rather than a straight line. Get the spacing wrong on a crescent and the whole front looks crooked — there is no straight edge to measure from.
Lining a bag in the same suede as the exterior is the other unusual thing here. Almost every bag at this price uses a printed fabric inside, because nobody photographs the lining — this one does not.

Is this real suede?
No. The maker lists faux suede for both the exterior and the lining. Faux suede is a synthetic material made to mimic the nap of suede, not an animal product.
How do I look after suede?
Keep it dry and brush the nap back in one direction if it flattens. Faux suede marks less readily than the real thing, but water spots on both should be left to dry before being touched.
Can it be worn crossbody?
Yes. The detachable strap adjusts from 26 cm of drop to 57 cm, and the long end of that range is crossbody on most people.
How much does it hold?
At 30 cm wide and 19 cm high it takes a phone, a wallet, keys, sunglasses and a compact, with two pockets to keep the small things apart. At 6 cm deep it is wide rather than roomy.
