01 — The idea
A setting worth looking at
In most solitaire jewellery the metal is invisible — its whole job is to hold the stone and get out of the way. Here it is cut into an open crown, so the piece is still interesting when the stone is not catching the light.
02 — Design
Open work under the stone
The gallery beneath each stone is pierced rather than solid. That lets light in from underneath and from the sides, which is what keeps the stone bright rather than leaving it sitting on a dark backing.
The rim is scalloped into small points all the way round, like the edge of a crown. It is the same profile on the pendant and on both earrings, at the same scale.
Everything is finished in a warm rose gold tone, which sits closer to skin than yellow gold does and makes the clear stone look brighter by contrast.
