A circle is the only shape where every stone sits the same
On a square or rectangular bezel the corners break the rhythm of the setting. On a round one the stones run continuously, which is why crystal bezels have always looked best on a circle.

At 2.6 cm the dial is compact, which concentrates the sparkle instead of spreading it thin. A large crystal bezel can tip into costume; this size keeps it as jewellery.
