Every decade has one silhouette that dates a photograph instantly. For the last few years it has been the slim rectangle — low, wide and close to the face, the opposite of the oversized shapes that came before it.
02 — Design
Why two tones matter on a narrow frame
A slim rectangle shows almost nothing from the front — there is very little material to carry a colour. So the temples become the visible part, and finishing them in a second tone is what stops the frame reading as a plain black bar.
Head on you get the line. Turn your head and the second colour arrives. It is the cheapest trick in eyewear design and the one that works most reliably.

A narrow lens sits closer to the face than a deep one, which means any waviness in the tint is right in your line of sight instead of out at the edge. It is the shape where a bad lens is hardest to hide.

Before you order
Is a narrow lens enough coverage?
For the eye, yes — protection comes from the UV filter, not the size. For the skin around it, no: a narrow frame leaves more of the eyelid and outer corner exposed than an oversized one does.
Do the translucent frames look cheap?
They read as translucent only in strong light; indoors they look closer to a smoked neutral. If you want a finish that never shifts, the black or the taupe is the safer pick.
Will they suit a wider face?
The frame is wide rather than deep, which is exactly what suits a broader face. It is a narrower face that risks the shape looking too long.
