The skin around the eye is the thinnest on the body
It is also the first place a face shows its age. A small lens protects the pupil and leaves everything around it exposed — the eyelid, the outer corner, the strip under the brow. Oversized is not only a styling decision; it is the only shape that actually covers that skin.
02 — Design
Big, with a straight top line
Oversized frames fail when they are round — the face ends up behind two circles and the whole thing reads as a disguise. Squaring the lens gives the frame a straight upper edge that sits parallel to the brow, so the eye still reads the face underneath.
The corner is softened rather than sharp, which keeps a large lens from looking architectural on a smaller face.

Scale up a lens and every flaw in it scales too. Distortion at the edge, a tint that fades unevenly, a rim that loses its grip as the material flexes — all of these are invisible on a small frame and obvious on a large one.
The lenses here are polarized, so reflected glare is filtered rather than dimmed, and the UV400 block covers the full lens area — which on this shape is the point of buying it.

Before you order
Will an oversized frame overwhelm a small face?
The straight top edge is what stops it. Aligned with the brow, a large lens reads as coverage rather than as a mask. If you want the same protection in a smaller shape, our square and rectangle frames are the next step down.
Does a bigger lens mean better protection?
For the skin around the eye, yes — that is entirely a question of area. For the eye itself, protection comes from the UV filter, which is the same on every pair we sell.
Are they heavy on the nose?
Larger than average, so more of the weight sits on the bridge. If you wear sunglasses pushed up into your hair all day, a lighter metal frame is the more comfortable choice.
