Crystals scattered across a dial are ornament. Crystals placed at twelve, three, six and nine are markers — you use them to read the time. Same sparkle, but it has earned its position.

Because the crystals sit at the marker positions, the dial stays readable and the spacing is dictated by the clock rather than by taste. That constraint is what keeps it from looking arbitrary.
Everything else on the face is left plain. With markers this bright, adding a textured dial or a set bezel would have been too much.

Is this subtler than the crystal bezel models?

Will a marker come loose?
