01 — The idea
Put the sparkle where you actually look
A crystal bezel sits at the edge of your field of view. Crystals on the dial sit where your eye already goes every time you check the time — which is a more useful place to put them.
02 — Design
A plain bezel is the harder choice
Leaving the bezel bare means the metal finish has to carry it alone. Any unevenness in the polish shows immediately, where a ring of crystals would have hidden it.
Doing it this way round also keeps the outline of the watch clean, so the sparkle stays contained inside the case rather than spreading to its edge.
The two-tone bracelet supplies the contrast that the bezel deliberately does not.

Do the crystals affect legibility?
No. They are placed around the dial rather than across the centre, so the hands stay clear against them.
Will the polished bezel scratch?
Polished steel shows fine marks more readily than a brushed finish — that is true of any polished watch. It buffs back easily.
