01 — The idea
Most convertible bags convert into something that looks converted
A top-handle bag with a strap clipped on usually looks exactly like that: a handbag with a strap clipped on, handles standing up doing nothing. Here the handles fold down into the interior and the top line closes flat, so the crossbody version reads as a bag that was designed to be worn that way — because it was.
02 — Design
A knot instead of a lock
The closure is a knotted leather detail over a concealed hook. There is no plate, no visible catch and no metal tongue to line up — you push it shut and it holds. On a soft-sided bag that is the correct choice, because a rigid lock needs a rigid panel behind it and a rigid panel would take away the slouch.
The body is satin calf leather: a finish with a low, even sheen rather than a gloss. It reads as depth of colour instead of reflection, which is the whole argument for a deep burgundy rather than a black.

03 — Build
Fifteen centimetres of depth has to be held open
A deep soft bag collapses inward at the sides unless the gussets are properly cut — and once it collapses, the depth you paid for is gone. The panels here are shaped so the bag opens to its full width rather than pinching into a V.
Inside, a microfibre suede lining and a zip pocket. Suede lining is the quiet detail: it does not slide, so the contents stay where you put them in a bag that moves as you walk.

04 — Versatility

Handles raised, carried in the hand, it is a formal shape. Handles folded down inside with the strap on, it is a soft crossbody. The handle drop is 11.5 cm and the strap runs to about 55 cm, so the two positions genuinely sit at different heights on the body rather than being the same bag twice.
05 — Capacity
What 34 × 26 × 15 actually takes
This is the point at which a handbag becomes a day bag. A tablet lies flat, a folded scarf and a small umbrella fit alongside a wallet, and there is still room to reach in without rearranging everything first.
It will not take a 15-inch laptop — 34 cm of width is not enough once the case is on. A 13-inch one goes in flat against the back panel.
06 — The value
Why this makes sense
Folding handles cost money. They need a reinforced hinge point that survives being bent both ways a few thousand times, and a top line that still closes cleanly with the handles stowed inside. It is far cheaper to rivet the handles upright and sell the bag as convertible anyway.

Before you order
Does the strap come off completely?
Yes. It clips at both ends and is adjustable along its length, so the bag works as a pure top-handle piece with the strap removed.
Will a 13-inch laptop fit?
Flat against the back panel, yes. A 15-inch will not — the bag is 34 cm wide and a 15-inch machine in a case is wider than that.
Does the knot come undone?
The knot is decorative over a concealed hook closure. It stays tied; the hook is what holds the bag shut, and it releases with a push rather than a pull.
