01 — The idea
The shape that tapers is the shape that stays upright
A straight-sided bag has to be held open by its structure. A trapezoid holds itself: the wider base gives it a low centre of gravity, so it stands on a table whether it is full or nearly empty, and the narrower top keeps the opening closed against the flap without needing a heavy lock to force it.
02 — Design
A deep embossed texture, and what it does
The leather is embossed with a raised, irregular texture rather than left smooth. On a pale colour that matters more than on a dark one: a flat pale panel shows every mark and every shadow, while a textured surface breaks the light into small facets and absorbs the same wear into its pattern.
It also changes how the colour reads. A soft green on smooth leather looks flat and synthetic; the same green over a raised texture gains variation across the panel and reads as a dyed material rather than a printed one.

03 — Build
One handle carries everything
A single top handle concentrates the entire loaded weight into two mounting points at the top edge — there is no second handle to share it and no shoulder strap taking the load when it is carried in the hand. Those two points are where a top-handle bag lives or dies.
Inside, a goatskin lining. A leather lining is heavier and more expensive than a textile one, and the reason to use it is that it holds its own shape: the interior stays open rather than collapsing in on itself when the bag is half empty.

04 — Versatility

The strap clips off, and the bag is designed around the handle rather than around the strap — which is the right way round for a structured shape. Carried by the handle it holds its line; on the strap it sits against the body and the 10 cm base keeps it from turning.
05 — Capacity
What 28 × 20 × 10 takes
A tablet flat against the back, a wallet, a glasses case, keys and a small bottle — with the tapered top still closing properly over all of it. This is the size at which a bag stops being an accessory and starts being the one you leave the house with.
A 13-inch laptop will go in at 28 cm of width, though not with much beside it. Anything larger needs a different bag.

A tapered bag cannot be cut from rectangles. Every panel is shaped, the side gussets are angled rather than square, and the base has to be formed to a different width from the opening. Does it stand up on its own?
Yes. The tapered shape puts the width at the base, which is what keeps it upright on a table even when it is only half full.
Is the shoulder strap included?
It is, along with the padlock, two keys and the clochette. Nothing here is sold separately.
How do I care for embossed leather?
Wipe along the grain with a dry soft cloth. Do not use a conditioner — on an embossed finish it collects in the recesses and darkens them unevenly. Keep pale colours out of prolonged direct sun.
