01 — The idea
The corners of a flap are where it starts to look tired
A square flap has two points that nothing holds down. They catch on clothing, they are the first thing lifted when the bag is opened, and after a year they curl — which is why so many otherwise good flap bags look worn at exactly two places. A rounded flap has no point to lift. The edge is continuous, the pressure of the closure spreads along the whole curve, and there is nothing for a sleeve to hook under.
02 — Design
Smooth leather, and the decision behind it
Smooth calf shows more than a grained finish does — that is simply true, and on an ivory colour it is doubly true. It is used here because a rounded flap depends on an unbroken line: grain and texture interrupt a curve visually, and the shape stops reading as one continuous edge.
So the leather is chosen for the silhouette rather than for durability, and the compensation is elsewhere — in the flap that has no corners to wear and in a closure that sits flush rather than proud.

03 — Build
Cutting a curve costs more than cutting a rectangle
A rounded flap is a shaped piece, and the edge has to be finished along a continuous curve rather than in straight runs. There is no way to do it quickly, and every millimetre of the edge is visible because it forms the outline of the bag.
Seven centimetres of depth is the other decision. It is enough to hold a phone, a card case and sunglasses without the flap having to stretch over a bulge — which is what breaks the line on a shallower bag that has been over-filled.

04 — Versatility
Nine centimetres of adjustment, and why that is the right amount
Forty-eight centimetres puts the bag on the shoulder, just under the arm. Fifty-seven drops it to the hip for crossbody wear. Between those two numbers is every useful position for a bag this size — a longer range would only add lengths at which a 22 cm bag looks wrong.
05 — What fits
Twenty-two by seventeen by seven
A phone, a card holder, keys, a folded pair of sunglasses and a lipstick, with the flap still closing flat over all of it. Seven centimetres is a genuine depth rather than a nominal one — on a 22 cm frame that is enough for a small water bottle lying down, if you need it to be.
It is not a work bag and it does not pretend to be. A tablet will not go in, and the shape is the reason to buy it rather than the capacity.
06 — The value
Why this makes sense
Curved panels waste leather. A rounded flap cut from a hide leaves offcuts that a rectangular one would not, and the edge finishing takes longer because it cannot be run in straight lines. On an ivory colour, the hide also has to be close to unmarked before it is cut.

Before you order
Is the strap long enough for crossbody?
At its full 57 cm, yes — it sits at the hip. At 48 cm it is a shoulder length. Both ends of the range are published so you can compare them against a bag you already own.
Does smooth ivory leather mark easily?
More than a grained finish would — there is no texture to absorb a scuff. The most common problem is dye transfer from dark denim rather than wear. Wipe with a dry soft cloth, never a damp one.
Will a small tablet fit?
No. At 22 by 17 cm the opening is smaller than any tablet, and the rounded flap means the top is narrower still. This is a phone-and-essentials bag.
