01 — The idea
Woven bags almost never have an adjustable handle
An adjustment needs a buckle, and a buckle needs something firm to pull against. On a crochet body there is nothing firm anywhere — so the handle has to be leather and it has to be anchored into a reinforced panel rather than into the weave itself. That is why most woven bags come with one fixed length and you either get on with it or you do not.
02 — Design
Crochet on a curve, not on a rectangle
The body is worked with a gently curved base rather than as a flat panel folded in half. Crocheting a curve means changing the stitch count as the shape widens and narrows, by hand, which is slow — and it is the only way to get a woven bag that follows the line of the body instead of standing away from it.
Leather is used at the handle, the top edge and the base corners. Those are the three places a crochet bag wears through, and putting leather there rather than spreading it around as trim is the difference between a decorative choice and a structural one.

03 — Build
The base is where crochet bags die
Every time a woven bag is set down, the loaded weight lands on a handful of stitches at the bottom edge. On a café table it is dust; on pavement it is grit working into the fibre. Within a season the base is visibly greyer than the rest of the bag, and no cleaning brings it back.
Metal studs under the base lift the weave clear of the surface. It is a small, cheap-looking detail that does more for the life of this bag than anything else on it.

04 — Versatility
Twenty-two centimetres in the hand. Thirty-four on the shoulder.
At its shortest the handle holds the bag tight under the arm, which is how a long, low shape is meant to sit. Let it out and the same bag drops onto the shoulder and clears a jacket. Twelve centimetres of range covers both properly — and on a woven bag, having any range at all is the unusual part.
05 — Proportions
Long and low, with real depth
Thirty-four centimetres of width against 19.5 of height is a deliberately horizontal shape — it lies along the body rather than hanging off it, and at ten centimetres deep it holds far more than the low profile suggests.
Phone, wallet, keys, sunglasses, a compact and a small bottle, with the zip still closing. It is a genuine day bag rather than a woven bag that looks like one.

Before you order
Is it only a summer bag?
The natural tone reads as summer, but the construction does not — it has a zip, a lining and a protected base, which is more than most year-round bags in this size. It is a seasonal colour rather than a seasonal build.
Will the crochet snag?
A tight crochet stitch is far more resistant than an open weave — there are no long loose strands to catch. Keep it away from hook-and-loop fastenings, which will pull at any woven surface.
How do I clean it?
Brush it gently with a dry soft brush in the direction of the stitch, and wipe the leather separately with a dry cloth. Do not soak it — the knit and the leather dry at different rates and a line appears along the join.
