01 — The idea
Pale leather is beautiful and unforgiving. Coated canvas is neither.
Every pale bag meets the same three enemies: dark denim, a pen, and a table someone wiped badly. On untreated leather all three are permanent. A coated canvas has a thin protective surface over the cloth, so what lands on it stays on it — and comes off with a damp cloth. That is not a lesser material. It is a different answer to a real problem.
02 — Design
Soft-sided, on purpose
There is no board in the panels and no frame at the opening. The bag holds a rounded shape because of how it is cut, and it gives when you press it — which is what makes a satchel this size comfortable against the body rather than something you are aware of all day.
The leather is at the handles, the base corners and the trim: the places that take the handling. Coated canvas resists marks but it is still cloth at the edges, and edges are where cloth goes first.

03 — Build
Leather inside a canvas bag
The lining is soft leather rather than textile, which is the reverse of what most bags do and considerably more expensive. It is also the right way round here: a canvas exterior handles the outside world, and a leather interior means nothing snags, nothing pills, and the inside does not look tired long before the outside does.
A double zip runs the top. Two pulls let the bag be opened from either end or part-way, which on a soft-sided shape is the only way to reach in without the whole opening gaping.

Coated canvas weighs a fraction of what the same bag in structured leather would, and on a medium satchel that is what decides whether it gets carried on the days it is full. Soft construction, light material, two carrying positions — the whole design points the same way.

Before you order
How do I clean coated canvas?
A soft cloth, barely damp, and nothing else — no solvent and no alcohol, both of which attack the coating itself. Dry the leather trim separately.
Does it hold its shape?
It holds a rounded shape but it is deliberately soft — it gives when pressed and settles around what is inside. If you want a silhouette that stands rigid on a table, a structured bag is the right choice instead.
Will dark denim transfer onto it?
Far less than onto untreated pale leather — that is the point of the coating. Wipe it off the same day rather than leaving it, and it lifts cleanly.
