01 — The idea
Beadwork is measured in hours, not in materials
The beads themselves cost very little. What they cost is time: each one is stitched individually onto a surface that is already quilted, following the grid so that the placement reads as deliberate rather than scattered. A panel of this size takes an afternoon. That is the whole economics of an embellished bag, and it is why there are so few of them at any price.
02 — Design
Why the beads follow the quilting
A quilted ground already has a geometry. Scatter beads across it and the two patterns fight — the eye reads a grid and a random field at the same time and settles on neither. Place each bead at an intersection and the embellishment becomes part of the same structure, which is why the surface reads as considered rather than as decoration applied afterwards.
It also makes the work checkable. A bead out of place on a grid is visible immediately, which is a useful discipline for whoever is doing it.

03 — Build
An embellished bag has to survive being handled
Beads on the front panel of a bag that is picked up, set down and pressed against clothing are in a genuinely hostile position. Each is secured individually rather than in a continuous thread, so a single loose bead cannot take its neighbours with it — which is what happens on a chain-stitched embellishment when one stitch fails.

04 — Versatility
An evening bag that is not only an evening bag
Beadwork in a champagne tone against a matching leather does not announce itself the way a contrast embellishment does — it reads as texture from two metres away and as detail from thirty centimetres. That is what lets it work in daylight as well as after dark, which most embellished bags cannot.

The strap is around 110 cm and removable, so the bag works across the body for a day and on its handle for an evening. The handle itself has an 8 cm rise — enough for the hand, not for a shoulder.

Before you order
Will the beads come off?
Each is secured individually rather than on one continuous thread, so a single bead cannot unravel the rest. Avoid dragging the front panel against rough surfaces and against hook-and-loop fastenings.
How do I clean it?
A dry soft brush over the beadwork, in one direction. Do not use a damp cloth on the beaded area — moisture works into the stitching rather than lifting off it.
Is it only for evenings?
The beads are the same tone as the leather rather than a contrast, so the surface reads as texture at a distance. It works in daylight in a way a bright embellishment does not.
