01 — The idea
Structure is the default for small bags, and it is not always right
A rigid mini is a box you wear — it holds its shape, and it also holds its corners against you when you sit, lean or move. A soft one settles into the space between your arm and your side and stops being something you are aware of. The trade is that it will not stand on a table, and for a bag carried across the body that is a trade worth making.
02 — Design
Soft grained leather, and what it does over time
A fine-grained, supple calf leather has almost no memory. It does not crease into fixed lines the way a firm hide does; it folds where it is folded and relaxes again afterwards, so the bag takes on the shape of how you carry it rather than fighting it.
The grain is the other half of this. A pebbled surface on a soft bag hides the small marks that a smooth one would collect immediately — and a soft bag is handled far more than a rigid one.

03 — Build
A soft bag needs a lining that behaves
With no structure in the panels, the lining is doing more than covering the inside — it is half the body of the bag. Leather is used here rather than textile: it holds the walls apart enough that the opening does not collapse, without adding the stiffness that would take the softness away.
There are pockets inside and out, which on an unstructured bag matters more than usual: with nothing holding a shape, anything loose finds the bottom immediately.

04 — Versatility

Fifty-two centimetres is barely longer than the handles — the bag sits tucked under the arm. A hundred and twelve puts it at the hip across the body. Will it hold its shape?
Not in the way a structured bag does — it is soft by design and settles around what is inside. If you want a mini that stands square on a table, a structured one is the right choice instead.
Can it be worn four ways?
Practically, yes: strap off in the hand, strap at its shortest under the arm, mid-length on the shoulder, full length across the body. Sixty centimetres of range is what makes that real rather than a claim.
How does soft leather age?
It softens further and the tan deepens where it is handled. That is the material behaving as it should. Wipe with a dry soft cloth and keep it out of prolonged direct sun.
