01 — The idea
A pocket on the wall of a bucket bag does nothing
Almost every bucket bag has one: a flat slip pocket stitched to the lining, which holds a phone and leaves everything else to pile up in seventeen centimetres of open depth. A zip pocket hung down the centre works differently — it divides the space into two narrower halves, so nothing has room to disappear and you can reach the bottom of either side without emptying the other.
02 — Design
Twenty-six by twenty-six, and seventeen and a half deep
Square across the face and very nearly as deep — this is close to a cube, which is an unusual proportion and the reason the bag holds what it does. Most buckets are tall and narrow, so the volume is all in a column you have to reach down into.
The leather trim goes at the top edge, the base corners and the cord channel: the three places a canvas bucket is handled, set down and pulled. Everything else is coated canvas, which is lighter and takes rain without marking.

03 — Build
A hanging pocket has to be anchored at the top
Suspended down the middle of the bag, the central pocket carries its own contents plus whatever leans against it from either side. It is fixed along the full width of the top edge rather than at two points, so the load spreads into the opening instead of pulling at a seam.
The drawstring is a leather cord rather than a textile one. It holds the gather where you set it and does not fray at the ends the way a woven cord does after a year of being pulled twice a day.

04 — Versatility
Thirty-one to fifty-five centimetres, which is shoulder to crossbody
At its shortest the bag sits tucked high under the arm, where a wide bucket stays out of the way. Let it out and it drops to the hip and crosses the body. Twenty-four centimetres of range covers both properly rather than offering a single length that half works.
05 — What it holds
Nearly a cube, which holds more than it looks
A tablet standing upright on one side of the divider, a wallet, cosmetics and a bottle on the other. Seventeen and a half centimetres of depth across a 26 cm face is a genuinely large volume in a bag that does not read as large.
The honest limitation is the same one every drawstring has: the top gathers rather than sealing. It holds shut and stays where you set it, but it is not a zip.

Before you order
Does the central pocket come out?
No — it is fixed along the top edge, which is what lets it divide the space and carry its own weight. That is the difference between it and a loose pouch.
How securely does the drawstring close?
It gathers the top shut and the leather cord holds the gather where you set it rather than working loose as you walk. It is not sealed — no drawstring bag is.
How do I clean coated canvas?
A barely damp soft cloth, and nothing solvent-based — that attacks the coating itself. Wipe the leather trim separately and dry.
