01 — The idea
Every ordinary bag has a face it never shows
The lining is where the shortcuts live: raw seam allowances, a rougher material, edges left unfinished because nobody looks. Take that away and the construction has nowhere left to go — both faces have to be cut clean, both sets of seams have to be finished, and the join between them has to look deliberate from either direction. It is roughly twice the finishing work for a bag that looks, from the front, like one bag.
02 — Design
Two faces that are not two versions of the same thing
One side is a printed canvas — light, coated, and the reason the bag weighs what it does. The other is structured calf leather with no pattern at all. They are not a loud version and a quiet version of one design; they are a printed bag and a plain bag sharing a body.
That is the useful part. Turning it through is not a novelty you use once — it is the difference between a bag that suits a Saturday and one that suits a meeting, without owning both.

03 — Build
The side studs are the width control
Studs at each side draw the upper corners inward. Fastened, the bag narrows and the silhouette pulls in at the top; unfastened, the full 31 centimetres of width is open. On a tote that carries a laptop that is the difference between a shape and a sack.
At 0.9 kg the bag is light for its size, and that comes from the canvas face rather than from thin leather. A fully leather tote at these dimensions would be noticeably heavier before anything went into it.

04 — Versatility
The pouch is the part you will use most
An open tote with 14 centimetres of depth has one flaw and it is always the same one: everything small reaches the bottom. A zip pouch on a clip solves it completely, and because it clips rather than sits loose, it stays at the top where you can reach it. It also lifts out and works on its own.
05 — What it holds
Thirty-one by twenty-eight by fourteen
A laptop lies flat against a face with a folder beside it, a bottle stands upright, and there is room left for everything that usually gets carried separately. Fourteen centimetres of depth on a 31 cm width is a genuine working volume rather than a shopper that only looks large.
What it is not is a closed bag. The top gathers on a drawcord and clasp rather than sealing shut — normal for this shape, and worth knowing before a crowded commute.

Why this makes sense
Reversibility roughly doubles the finishing cost and removes the one place where a maker is normally allowed to be rough. It is also completely invisible in a listing photograph — the bag looks like a tote from the front, and the entire argument for it is on the face you cannot see until it arrives.

Before you order
How hard is it to turn through?
It takes both hands and about a minute — the handles have to come through the opening and the base has to be pushed square again. It is a deliberate change of bag, not something you do at a bus stop.
Does the pouch stay in place?
It clips to a ring inside, so it hangs at the top rather than dropping to the bottom. Unclip it and it works as a small pouch on its own.
How do I clean two different materials?
A barely damp cloth on the coated canvas and a dry cloth on the leather, each separately. Never soak the bag — the two faces dry at different rates and that is what leaves a line at the join.

A reversible body needs the printed canvas and the leather to be matched in tone and finished together as a single piece. When either side of that pairing runs out, the bag does.
