01 — The idea
Most of a bag's weight is hardware you did not ask for
Plates, feet, frames, a zip running the whole width, a strap with its own buckles and rings — none of it holds anything, and all of it is on your shoulder before you have put a single thing inside. Take the closure and the strap and make them the same component, and a bag this size comes in at around 600 grams empty.
02 — Design
Quilted, then left to fall
The quilting is stitched into soft leather rather than over a padded shell, so the diamonds hold their line across the panels but the bag still collapses into folds when you set it down. That is a harder thing to get right than a rigid quilt: the stitch has to be loose enough to drape and tight enough not to pucker.
The colour is a pale, cool blue — close to grey in low light and clearly blue in daylight. On a matt quilted surface it reads as a texture rather than as a bright colour, which is why it works against navy and black rather than fighting them.
Gold-tone eyelets set all the way around the opening, and a small hanging clasp at the front.
03 — Build
Leather threaded through the chain, not next to it
The cord is a flat leather strip woven through every link of the chain along its whole length. It is slower to make than a plain chain and it does two things: it stops the metal from marking a coat at the shoulder, and it gives the drawstring enough friction to stay where you pull it instead of sliding open again.
Inside, a slip pocket against the back wall and a lining in the same pale tone — so a dark phone or wallet is visible at a glance rather than lost against a black interior.

04 — Versatility
Open it wide or cinch it shut
Drawn closed it is a compact rounded shape on the shoulder. Let the cord out and the whole 30 centimetre opening is available, which is how you get a folded jumper or a pair of shoes into a bag that looked small five seconds earlier. Very few closures do both.
05 — The colour
One shade, chosen rather than defaulted to
This comes in the pale blue only. It is the shade that does the thing a neutral cannot — it lifts a dark winter outfit without introducing a second strong colour — and it is also the hardest to dye consistently across a quilted hide, which is precisely why it is not offered in six variations.
06 — The value
Why this makes sense
Threading leather through a chain is done by hand, link by link, and on a cord long enough to circle the opening and then reach the shoulder that is a serious amount of time per bag. It is also the part nobody lists on a spec sheet, because it looks like "chain strap" from two metres away.

08 — Questions
Before you order
Does the drawstring close it securely?
It gathers the opening shut and holds there, which is right for a café or an office. It is not a zip, and on a crowded train we would keep a hand on it — we would rather tell you that than imply otherwise.
Will the pale leather mark?
A light colour will pick up dye from dark denim over time; that is true of every pale bag and this one is no exception. A dry soft cloth after wear handles the rest, and the quilting hides small surface marks better than a flat panel would.
Can it be worn crossbody?
It is built for the shoulder. The cord's length is set by how much of it is doing the cinching, so the drop is shoulder height rather than adjustable to a crossbody position.

Pale hides are selected far more strictly than dark ones — a mark that would vanish in black is a rejected panel here — and the cord is threaded by hand afterwards. Both of those cap how many can be made at a time.
