01 — The idea
Handle height is decided at the factory and never again
Every bag you have ever owned made that choice for you: short enough for the hand, or long enough for the arm, fixed for the life of the bag. Ten centimetres of adjustment turns it into a decision you make in the morning — tight to the hand for a shop, let out over a coat sleeve for a walk — and the buckles that do it are the only mechanism on the bag.
02 — Design
Two tones, because one would hide the mechanism
Black handles on a beige body is not only a contrast — it puts the adjustable part of the bag in a different colour from the part that stays the same. The buckles read as deliberate hardware rather than as something a matching strap was trying to disguise.
The body underneath is quilted in a large diamond grid, scaled up so that a 23 centimetre bag carries only a few complete diamonds across its face. A finer grid on a panel this small would read as texture; this reads as pattern.

03 — Build
The interior pocket comes out
It is a separate piece rather than a panel stitched into the lining, which means two things: you can lift it out and carry it alone, and when it is out the bag has its full twelve centimetres of depth with nothing dividing them.
On a bag 23 centimetres across that flexibility matters more than a fixed compartment would. The pocket organises a day; taking it out turns the bag into a single clean volume for an evening.

04 — Versatility
Nine centimetres is a hand. Nineteen is a sleeve.
At the short setting the bag sits tight against the fingers where a small quilted shape looks best. At the long one it clears a coat sleeve and hangs from the forearm, which is the setting you want when both hands are busy. Most bags force that choice once; this one asks it every time you pick it up.
05 — What fits
Twelve centimetres deep on a fourteen-centimetre bag
That is almost as deep as it is tall, which is a rare proportion and the reason a bag this small holds a real amount. A phone, a card case, sunglasses, keys and a lipstick sit side by side rather than stacked, and the removable pocket keeps the small things off the bottom.
What it will not take is anything tall. Fourteen centimetres of height is the limit, and a bottle or a long wallet standing upright will sit proud of the opening.

Before you order
How do the handles adjust?
On buckles, the same way a belt does — punched holes and a pin, with no slider to work loose. Nine centimetres at the tightest, nineteen at the longest, and it takes a few seconds either way.
Will it go over my shoulder?
No. Nineteen centimetres at full length is a forearm height, not a shoulder one, and we would rather say so. This is a hand-carried bag with a second position for when your hands are full.
Does the black handle mark the beige body?
The leathers are finished rather than raw, so there is no dye transfer between them in normal use. Keep the bag out of prolonged damp, which is when any two-tone pairing is at risk.

A beige body and black handles have to be finished to the same standard in two separate batches, and the pale panels have to be cut clean because a large quilted grid leaves wide flat areas with nothing to hide behind.
