01 — The idea
A finish that photographs badly and wears beautifully
Smooth leather looks its best in a studio and never quite that good again. Suede is the opposite: flat under a lamp, alive in daylight, and better at six months than at six days because handling is what evens the nap out. It is the only common leather finish that improves specifically because you used it.
02 — Design
Long, low, and ten centimetres deep
Twenty-three centimetres wide against thirteen high is a deliberate proportion: it is long enough to read as a considered shape rather than a pouch, and low enough that it never looks bulky held at the side.
The depth is where the capacity actually comes from. Ten centimetres through a barrel body means things sit in rows rather than stacked flat against each other, so what is at the bottom is still reachable.
No quilting, no padding — the surface is plain suede, and the only relief on the front is a single embossed panel.
03 — Build
Suede cannot be wiped, so the base is raised
On a smooth bag a dirty base is a cloth and thirty seconds. On suede it is a permanent darker patch, because the nap holds what it picks up. That makes the four metal feet underneath a functional decision rather than a decorative one — the leather never touches the table.
The opening runs on two zip pulls that meet in the middle, so you can open one end for a phone without unzipping the whole bag.

04 — Versatility
A nine centimetre drop puts it in the hand
This is a hand bag in the literal sense. Nine centimetres of handle takes your fingers and nothing more — it will not go over a shoulder, and it was never meant to. What that buys is the proportion: short handles are why the shape reads long and low instead of tall and slung.
05 — Looking after it
Three minutes, twice a year
Suede needs a soft brush and almost nothing else. Brush it dry, always in one direction, and the nap lies flat and the colour evens out. A shiny patch — which is what happens where the bag rubs against you — comes back with the same brush worked gently against the grain.
Two things genuinely damage it. Water leaves a tide mark if it dries on its own, so blot it immediately and let it dry away from heat. And oil does not come out at all, which is worth remembering about hand cream more than about anything dramatic. A protective spray before first use is the single most useful thing you can do, and it takes a minute.
06 — The value
Why this makes sense
Suede shows everything, which is exactly why it is rarely used on inexpensive bags: there is nowhere to hide a bad cut, an uneven seam or a thin patch in the hide. A coated finish forgives all three.

Before you order
Is suede too delicate for daily use?
For rain, yes — treat it as a dry-weather bag. For everything else it is more forgiving than people expect, because the nap hides scuffs that would show on smooth leather. A protective spray first makes the difference.
Why does it look two different shades?
Because it is suede. The nap reflects light differently depending on which way it is lying, so the same panel reads pale or deep as you turn it. Brushing in one direction makes it uniform if you prefer that.
Will it fit over my shoulder?
No. The drop is about 9 cm — hand carry only. There is no shoulder strap and no fittings to add one, so please choose with that in mind.

Suede is dyed by the hide, not by the metre
Each skin takes the dye slightly differently, so a run is only ever as large as the hides that were matched for it. When a colour sells out it is replaced rather than repeated.
