01 — The idea
The most useful thing a summer bag can do is disappear
A rigid bag takes up the same space in a suitcase whether you are using it or not, which is why the good-looking one usually stays at home. A drawstring pouch with nothing structural in it folds to almost nothing and travels inside something else — and then opens out to twelve centimetres of depth when you need it.
02 — Design
The lettering is embroidered, not printed
A print sits on top of a woven surface and wears off first at the folds — which on a bag that packs flat is exactly where it would go. Embroidery is worked into the weave itself, so the pattern is part of the structure and folds with it rather than cracking across it.
It is also why the letters have texture rather than a flat edge. Look closely and you can see the stitch direction changing where the shapes turn.

03 — Build
The strap is woven, and that is the point
A wide band in the same raffia as the body spreads the load over the shoulder and keeps the bag reading as one object. A thin leather strap on a soft woven pouch does the opposite — it cuts in under weight and looks like a part borrowed from a different bag.
The leather here is kept to where it does work: the drawcord, the tips and the fittings at each end of the strap, all of which are points a woven fibre could not take on its own.

04 — Versatility
Thirty-seven centimetres, or none
Thirty-seven centimetres of drop puts the bag high under the arm on the shoulder — short, deliberately, because a soft pouch hanging low swings. Take the strap off and it is a clutch held in the hand, which is the other half of what a drawstring shape is for.
05 — What fits
Twelve centimetres of depth in a soft bag
That is a real volume for something that packs to nothing. A phone, a wallet, keys, sun cream and a pair of sunglasses go in and the drawcord still pulls closed over them.
What it will not do is hold a shape. Half empty it sags, which is what a drawstring pouch does and is not a fault — but if you want a bag that stands on a table, this is the wrong one.
06 — The value
Why this makes sense
A tight weave is slower to make than an open one — more strands per centimetre, more hours per panel — and hand embroidery on top of it is a second pass over the same surface. The wide woven strap is then effectively a third panel, made in the same fibre to the same standard.

Before you order
Can things fall out through the weave?
No. This is a tight weave rather than the open lattice used on larger raffia totes — there are no gaps for a card or a key to work through, which is why it suits a small bag.
How securely does the drawcord close?
It gathers the top down to a small opening and the leather cord holds where you set it rather than slipping loose as you walk. It is not a zip, and no drawstring bag is.
Will folding it flat damage the weave?
No — it is designed to do exactly that, and the embroidery is worked into the fibre so it folds with the panel rather than cracking. Store it flat rather than crushed and it keeps its shape.
