01 — The idea
The part of a bag that wears out first is the bottom
Not the handles, not the corners, not the zip — the underside, which spends its life on tables, floors, tiles and the footwell of a car. A flat leather base absorbs all of that directly. Four small feet lift it a few millimetres clear, and those few millimetres are why one bag looks new after two years and an identical one does not.
02 — Design
A trunk shape, at handbag scale
Flat base, straight sides, square ends and a zip running the full length of the top — the proportions of a small case rather than of a bag. Everything about the outline is a right angle held deliberately, which is why it reads as composed next to softer shapes rather than merely smaller.
The leather is smooth and unpatterned. On a shape built from flat planes that is the harder choice: a grain would hide the panel edges, a smooth finish shows every one of them, so each seam has to be straight.

03 — Build
A zip along the top, so it opens like a case
The zip runs the whole length rather than sitting in a short slot, which means the bag opens into a rectangle you can see the bottom of. On a deep shape that is the difference between finding things and excavating them.
The handles are rolled and stitched rather than cut flat, so they keep their round section in the hand instead of folding over under weight. The long strap clips off at both ends.

04 — Versatility
In the hand, or across the body
The short handles are the formal version — a small case carried the way a small case should be. The long strap turns the same bag into something you can walk a city in with both hands free, and because it comes off entirely, nothing is left hanging when you want the first version back.
05 — The measurements
Roughly 27 by 13 by 12 centimetres
Those figures are an estimate taken from the photographs against bags we have measured, and we are labelling them as such rather than presenting them as fact. The shape is deep for its width — closer to a small case than to a flat shoulder bag — and exact measured figures will replace these as soon as we have them.
06 — The value
Why this makes sense
A structured trunk is made from more separate pieces than a soft bag of the same size — a base, two ends, two sides, a zip panel — and every join between them is visible on smooth leather. Add corner feet, rolled handles and a full-length zip and you have a bag whose cost sits almost entirely in operations rather than in materials.

Before you order
Why are the measurements estimated?
Because the figures we were given did not match the product, so we chose to publish nothing rather than publish something wrong. The estimate on this page comes from comparing the photographs with bags we have measured ourselves, and it will be replaced by real numbers.
Is it roomy for its size?
Deeper than it looks, which is what the trunk shape buys you — things stand up in it rather than lying flat. It is still a compact bag: a phone, a wallet, glasses and a small pouch, not a laptop.
Will smooth black leather scratch?
It will mark more readily than a grained finish — that is the trade for how clean the panels look. Keep it away from keys loose in a pocket, use a dry soft cloth, and the corner feet will handle the surface it is set down on.
