01 — The idea
Soft bags are lovely to carry and infuriating to open
With no structure anywhere, the mouth of an unstructured bag closes itself the moment you stop holding it apart — so finding anything means using both hands, one to hold the opening and one to search. A frame at the top fixes that completely and changes nothing else: the body stays as soft as it was, and the opening becomes a fixed shape you can see into.
02 — Design
Ten centimetres of width that come and go
Thirty-three centimetres at rest, forty-three when it is full. On a structured bag those would be two different products; on a soft one it is the same bag responding to what is in it, and it is why this shape suits a day where the load changes.
The handle is gathered rather than cut as a strap, which is what gives it the rolled, soft look at the top and stops a narrow band pressing into the shoulder.

Where a frame has to be joined to leather that moves
A rigid component inside a soft bag is a difficult join: the metal does not flex and the leather does, so the seam between them takes the strain every time the bag is picked up or set down. It has to be backed and eased, and it is the part of this construction that decides whether the bag is still square at the top in three years.

04 — Versatility

That is a proper shoulder length rather than a hand one — the bag sits at the hip and moves with you, which is what a soft body is for. It is not a crossbody drop and we would rather say so: at 45 cm it goes over one shoulder, and the gathered handle is wide enough that it stays there.

A tablet, documents, a full wallet, cosmetics and everything else a working day takes. Thirteen centimetres of depth is generous, and because the frame keeps the opening wide you can reach the bottom without unpacking the top.
At 0.7 kg it is light for its size. That comes from having no board, no base and no stiffener in the body — only the frame at the top, which weighs very little and does all the structural work there is.

Almost every soft bag at this size solves the opening problem by adding structure to the whole body, which makes it heavier and takes away the reason to buy a soft bag. Before you order
Why is the width a range?
Because the body is soft. Empty it settles to about 33 cm; loaded it opens out to about 43. Publishing one number would mean choosing the flattering end, and the shape is the point.
Does the frame make it heavy?
No — the whole bag is 0.7 kg empty, which is light for a 43 cm shape. The frame is a thin rigid part at the opening rather than structure through the body.
How do I look after soft beige leather?
A dry soft cloth, and keep it away from dark denim — dye transfer is what ages a pale bag, not wear. Soft leather also relaxes with use, which deepens the slouch rather than damaging it.

Soft beige leather has no grain and no pattern, so every panel has to be cut from a section with no natural marking in it. That rules out most of each skin before a single frame is set.
