01 — The idea
The front and the arm have different jobs
The front of a frame has to carry colour, hold a shape and be seen. The arm has to be thin, springy and weigh as little as possible where it crosses your temple. Almost no material is good at both — which is why the best frames stop pretending and use two.
02 — Design
Where the two materials meet
The join sits at the hinge, at the outer corner of the frame, and it is the part to look at on any combination frame. Done well it reads as one continuous line from the front into the arm; done badly there is a step where the two parts meet.
The metal arm is thin enough to disappear behind your hair, which is what keeps a coloured front from reading as heavy.

03 — Build
The hinge carries everything
On a single-material frame the hinge is a small part inside a large one. On a combination frame it is the joint between two different materials, opened and closed a few thousand times a year, and it is the first thing that fails if it was not built for the job.
The lenses carry the full UV400 filter, blocking 100% of UVA and UVB, across all six colourways.

A red or blue frame is a commitment from the front and almost invisible from the side. The metal arm is what lets a strong colour stay wearable — it never doubles the amount of colour on your face.

What is Brindle?
A tortoiseshell pattern with the tones streaked rather than mottled. It reads as a warm brown at arm's length and shows its markings close up.
Do metal arms slip more than plastic ones?
They can, since metal is smoother against skin. These have a curve behind the ear rather than a straight arm, which is what holds them in place.
How does this differ from your other cat eye frames?
This is the only one built from two materials. The others are a single moulded frame throughout, or rimless with no front at all.
