01 — The idea
Fifteen centimetres of depth is the whole argument
Most bags this wide are four or five centimetres deep, which makes them wide envelopes. At fifteen, the floor of the bag is an actual surface: a folded scarf lies flat on it, a bottle stands upright, a laptop sleeve goes in without being forced against the sides. 08 — Questions
Before you order
Does the padlock actually lock it?
It locks itself — it is a working padlock on a leather fob, not a moulded ornament — but the bag closes with its zip. Treat the lock as hardware you can use on a zip pull if you want to, not as the security of the bag.
Is it heavy?
It has weight, and we would rather say so. Solid fittings and a 15 cm gusset are not light, and that is the same reason the bag holds its shape and the handles do not fold. If you want something you forget you are carrying, this is not it.
Will a laptop fit?
A 13-inch machine in a slim sleeve goes in flat along the 32 cm width with room to spare. A 15-inch is the limit and will sit tight against the ends — measure yours against the figures above before you decide.
