01 — The idea
Structure is usually cardboard in a leather coat
Most bags that hold a shape do it with a board glued inside the panel. It works, and it is also the part that eventually bends, cracks along the crease and shows as a ridge through the leather. A woven body has no board to break. It is the skin doing the structural work, which is slower to make and has nothing in it that can fail separately.
02 — Design
Every strip is cut before anything is woven
The panels begin as a hide cut into even strips, and the weave is assembled from them by hand before the bag exists as a shape at all. That is why the pattern carries round the ends and across the base without interruption — there is no printed or embossed texture pretending to be a weave, because the weave is the material.
Nappa is the right leather for it. It is soft enough to bend through the crossings without stressing the edges, and it takes the light in alternating directions, which is what gives a black bag any depth at all.
Antique gold-tone fittings rather than bright ones — on a matt black weave, a polished finish would be the only thing anyone saw.
03 — Build
A magnetic snap, because a zip on a soft bag fights you
Running a zip across a body with no frame means holding both sides taut with one hand while the other pulls. The top here closes on a magnetic snap instead: one motion, one hand, and the opening stays wide enough to see the whole interior at once.
Inside it is suede rather than fabric — two open sections, a zip pocket in the middle and a dedicated phone pocket. There is also a zip pocket on the outside at the side, which is where a passport or a ticket goes when you do not want to open the bag at all.

04 — Versatility
Handles for the platform, strap for the stairs
The two rolled handles are the default and sit the bag at the hand. The shoulder strap adjusts and unclips at both ends, so it comes off entirely when the bag is going under a seat — and because nothing is stitched on permanently, the clean version has no loose hardware anywhere on it.
05 — The size
An overnight bag, not a suitcase
At roughly 34 centimetres across it takes a change of clothes, a wash bag and a laptop — one night away, comfortably. It is not a week's luggage and we are not going to describe it as one. Height and depth are being confirmed by physical measurement and will be published as measured figures rather than estimates.
06 — The value
Why this makes sense
A woven panel uses far more leather than a cut one — the strips overlap, so a large share of every hide ends up buried under the crossings rather than visible on the surface. Add the hours of weaving and a full suede lining, and you have a bag whose cost is almost entirely material and labour rather than fittings.

Before you order
Why are some measurements missing?
Because we were not given figures we trust, and estimating a bag's height from a photograph is how wrong numbers get published. The width comes from a tape against the bag; the rest follows once we have measured it ourselves.
Does a magnetic snap hold?
It holds the top closed against the weight of what is inside, which is what it is for. It is not a lock, and on a soft bag it never pretends to be — for anything valuable, use the interior zip pocket rather than relying on the top.
How does woven leather age?
It softens and the crossings settle into each other, which reads as broken in rather than worn out. Keep it away from sustained damp — suede is the part that minds. A dry cloth along the strips, never across them.

Cutting a hide into strips and weaving them back into panels cannot be batched the way a cut-and-sewn bag can. Each one takes the hours it takes, which is the only reason there are never many at once.
